Roasted Nuts

Prep Notes

Use Organic Products whenever possible

Ingredients

Raw Nuts, whatever type you like (any amount)

(Macadamia, Brazil, Almonds, Cashews, Hazelnuts, Pecans, Walnuts, Pine Nuts)

Sea Salt (optional)

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

2. Place nuts on a rimmed baking sheet or cake pan and spread them out evenly in one layer.

3. Place in oven and roast for 5 minutes

4. Remove after 5 minutes and stir or shake. Move the nuts on the outer edges of baking tray or pan towards the middle. The edgescook more quickly.

5. Depending on the type of nut, you will have to watch carefully from this point on.

Most nuts will take at least 5 more minutes. Thicker nuts, like Brazil nuts, may take the longest. Pine Nuts burn quickly.

Check for doneness!

The goal is to have the nut turn a few shades darker or start to smell nuttier and you may hear the nuts crackling.

When you return the nuts to the oven, Check every 2 -3 minutes from this point on.

6. Remove from the oven when the nuts are a few shades darker and smell nutty. Let the nuts cool on a plate or another baking sheet or pan. Do not cool the nuts on the original pan or tray as they will continue cooking and can burn.

7. If you want to salt your nuts, sprinkle sea salt on them at this point.

Notes: Roasting nuts deepens the flavor and makes the nuts more nutty and complex. The texture becomes crisper which is fabulous for adding to any recipe or food. Baking with roasted nuts will improve all your recipes requiring nuts.

Add nuts to salads and other dishes or eat them as a fabulous snack.

Chop nuts after roasting. Warm nuts chop very easily.
